What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient healing art with its roots in Japanese origin. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any particular religion or religious practice. It is not massage, nor is it based on belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.

We are all energetic beings. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Reiki Practitioners understand that everyone has the ability to connect with their own healing energy and use it to strengthen energy in themselves and help others. It is believed that a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free-flowing. When this is true, a person’s body and mind are in a positive state of health. When the energy becomes weak or blocked, it could lead to symptoms of physical or emotional imbalance.

A Reiki session can help ease tension and stress and can help support the body to facilitate an environment for healing on all levels – physical, mental, and emotional. A session is pleasant and relaxing and is often utilized for one’s personal wellness.

What Happens During a Session?

Reiki treatments typically range from 60 to 90 minutes in duration. Before commencing the session, we'll engage in a discussion about any physical, spiritual, emotional, or mental concerns you may have. Once ready, you'll remove your shoes and remain fully clothed, reclining comfortably on the massage table. Beginning with a comprehensive cleansing of your auric field, I'll then move through Reiki hand positions, often guided intuitively to address the entire chakra system, attuned to areas in need of healing or release. Following this, a final cleansing of your body's energy field ensues.

Sensations such as warmth, coolness, vibrations, tingling, or sounds from the stomach may be experienced during the session, signifying the energy's efficacy. If you fall asleep or feel nothing at all, the energy is still being used toward your highest good. Everyone's system integrates the energy in a different way. Afterward, we'll discuss your pre-session, session, and post-session experiences, and any messages that may emerge.

During a Reiki session, expect to gain deeper insight into both your internal and external worlds. You might encounter colors, visions, nostalgic moments, or a combination thereof. Releasing expectations before the session allows us to fully embrace the boundless potential of this profound soul journey.
